The University of Toronto graduate psychology department is the worst thing I have ever experienced. The funding is low compared to other departments within the school, the number of hoops you are required to jump through is much higher than any other department, and the entire program is premised on the dogmatic belief that "psychology" is actually "cognitive psychology", with a little "developmental psychology" thrown in. The department's idea of neuroscience is fMRI-studies. Weirdly, students must answer to a secretary with a personality that should have her living under a bridge somewhere, who makes up, changes and applies the rules as she capriciously chooses. I am working on my PhD now, and can state with certainty that I have never been part of an organisation where morale was lower (and I once worked at Walmart!), and that I would not reccomend this monument to human mediocrity to anyone.
