RESEARCH TECHNICIAN Department of Microbiology and Immunology
A full-time research technician position is available through the support of the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to investigate mechanisms of extracellular protein toxin secretion by Gram negative bacteria. The successful candidate will join an active research team studying the structure and function of the Type II secretion system.
Duties: The successful candidate will perform a wide range of analyses involving molecular, genetic and biochemical techniques, with strong emphasis on protein purification and structural characterization. The candidate is expected to carry out independent research projects under supervision and work along with other research personnel in the laboratory.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a university degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in biological sciences, including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics and Microbiology. Previous working experience in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology using modern protein purification methods such as FPLC would be an important asset.
Term:Start July 1, 2007 until July 2010. Start date may be changed according to availability. Continued employment is highly possible pending successful renewal of funding.
Salary:Technician I or II, commensurate with training and working experience.
