Tension is rising between Trent University student associations and administration over a pilot program that deals with student misconduct on campus.
Members of a group calling themselves the Trent InterUnion Coalition planned to rally and march today at noon outside the Bata Library.
The dispute is over the non-academic misconduct policy, a pilot program to redefine how Trent handles acts of mischief by students on campus, said Susan Apostle-Clark, vice-president of academics.
At the moment the senior director of student affairs serves as judge and jury for any non-academic misconduct - often handing out community service or cleanup as punishment, she said.
"We're trying to make it so students have much more of a voice in this process then they ever had," Apostle-Clark said.
The pilot project is running this term to feel out student interest, and determine what's working well and what needs improving, she said.
